This building started as a grocery store called Joseph's. The building had changed hands many times over the years and deservingly had been reborn im a string of popular upscale nightclubs - The Anthony House, Renee’s, Kip's, Nashville, Bootlegger's, and more. The occupant of record in the summer of 2008 was Bootlegger and they were closed, in the process of remodeling over the summer. |
In the News: A smoky fire of undetermined origin was burning just before midnight at Bootleggers, 2518 Reynolds Road, between Heatherdowns Boulevard and the Ohio Turnpike.
Dense smoke was emanating from the roof of the single-story structure as firefighters poured water onto the structure to reach the fire inside. No flames were visible. By 12:30, the smoke had dissipated considerably.
Police blocked southbound Reynolds between Dussel Drive and Heatherdowns, and closed the intersection of Reynolds and Heatherdowns.
A sign outside previously had announced the club was closed for the summer and would reopen in the fall.
Damage was estimated at $500,000 to the South Toledo country-western night club where a fire was reported just before midnight Tuesday, authorities said.
Investigators are looking into the possibility that the blaze at Bootleggers was arson because a rear door appeared to have been pried open and the fire was believed to have started in that area before it spread to the roof.
Authorities estimated structural damage to the single-story building at $350,000 and said the blaze destroyed about $150,000 worth of items inside.
The Owners decided to move the club up to Byrne and so the damaged building changed hands again, this time to a Dollar Tree Store. |
